Commissioner Backs Kirkham Boxing Project Making a Real Impact

Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner has visited a community boxing initiative in Kirkham that is helping to tackle anti-social behaviour and support young people in making better choices.

The project, delivered by the Adam Little Boxing Foundation, based at Adam Little Combat Gym, has been supported with money from the Commissioner’s Community Fund, which utilises cash seized from criminals and invests it back into Lancashire.

The project provides a safe and structured environment for young people to engage in weekly boxing sessions, build confidence, and learn new skills.

During the visit, the Commissioner met with Adam Little, founder of the gym and former professional boxer, to hear how the project is building on previous work that has already made a positive impact in the local area.

The Commissioner also spoke with the local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), who highlighted the ongoing benefits of the initiative and its role in supporting young people and reducing youth-related issues in the town.

The project works with young people, offering mentorship and guidance from experienced coaches who help participants develop discipline, respect, and resilience. It aligns with several of the Commissioner’s key priorities, including tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, getting tough on serious violent crime, and rebuilding public trust and confidence.

Clive Grunshaw, Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire said:

“This is a fantastic example of how sustained, community-led work can make a real difference. Adam and his team have already laid strong foundations through their earlier efforts, and it’s great to see this new phase of the project continuing that momentum with support from my Community Fund.

"Speaking with the local PCSO and hearing directly from Adam, it’s clear that this initiative is having a meaningful impact. Young people are being given a safe space, positive role models, and the chance to learn skills that will benefit them for life.

"Projects like this are vital in helping to prevent crime before it starts. They give young people the tools and support they need to make better choices, and they help build stronger, safer communities for everyone.”

Adam Little added: “It’s great to be able to provide young people in the area with something positive to put their time & effort into. Without the support of local councils and the police this community initiative wouldn't be possible. If anyone would like to contact the gym please contact Adam on 07585771305.”
